In the midst of the impressive scenery of the Hohe Tauern, on a large meadow, alone with a wonderful view to the Großglockner! Sunny and quiet, in the middle of the most beautiful natural landscape in Austria, not far from the ski area and right in the hiking and biking paradise of the Hohe Tauern National Park with its more than two hundred 3000m peaks. Wide glacier fields, deep green mountain lakes and imposing waterfalls characterize this beautiful cultural landscape.

Next village Kals in Osttirol 7km, Matrei 27km away, Lienz 38km away, Grossglockner Resort Kals-Matrei ski area with 45km of slopes and 17 modern facilities 7km away. The ski area is the largest in East Tyrol and is particularly ideal for families. Cross-country skiers will find wonderful tours around Kals that have received the Tyrolean cross-country seal of approval. The hut is also the ideal starting point for ski tours in the Glockner Group or Schober Group. Do you dare the royal tour on the Grossglockner? In summer you can easily reach the best starting points for long hikes with the gondola. Austrias highest mountains await you between Kals and Matrei: the Großglockner at 3,798m and the Großvenediger at 3,674m. Many managed alpine pastures, a water show trail, endless hiking trails, mountain lakes and a breathtaking panorama await you. With the gondola you can also get to the top with your bike in a relaxed manner and you can look forward to the many trails and downhill rides! 600m below the hut is the Lucknerhaus, an inn with traditional delicacies and international specialities. Playground, climbing garden with 33 routes and 5 multi-rope lengths in 600m.

Equippment:
The hut was renovated in 2022 and lovingly extended in a very tasteful way. Ground floor: cozy living room with seating area, small couch, kitchenette with wood stove, oven, ceramic hob, refrigerator, coffee maker. 1 shower, 1 toilet. 1 double room, 1 room with bunk beds, infrared cabin. DG: camp with 6 beds. Heating with wood stove and infrared radiators. Bathroom underfloor heating. If the temperature drops significantly below zero degrees, the water may no longer come out of the tap. Then there is drinking water in bottles on site and the water for use would have to be melted from snow like before. In front of the hut there is a garden with seating and a barbecue area with 2 large barbecue barrels and a wonderful view. In spring and autumn, white deer often graze right in front of the hut! This special feature only exists at the foot of the Großglockner near Kals!
