Perfect Location
Roosevelt Stadthaus enjoys a prime central location directly opposite the Votive Church and near Vienna’s Ringstrasse in the heart of Vienna’s Old Town. It’s the perfect starting point for explorers and connoisseurs: in the immediate vicinity, you’ll find the most beautiful sights such as the Hofburg, the shopping streets of the inner city, the Servitenviertel, the Rathaus, university, parliament, as well as major museums and art venues, all within walking distance.
About Us
Roosevelt Stadthaus is not a hotel. Our guests appreciate that we don’t offer bothersome room service, strict breakfast times, or prying eyes in the lobby. But we also don’t limit ourselves to impersonal check-ins with a key code. We welcome you personally, even if your flight is delayed.
Established in 2016, the Stadthaus is family-run. As avid travelers ourselves, we believe we can respond well to our guests' needs. Konstanze and Johanna are true Viennese. They know the city’s hotspots and hidden gems alike. If you’d like to know where to find a good breakfast, where to enjoy a Wiener Schnitzel without long lines, or which Heuriger the locals prefer, we’re always happy to help.
A House with Histor
Located in a historic late-19th-century building, the Roosevelt Stadthaus has a long history. The building in its current form was erected in 1886 by architect Emil von Förster.
Viennese architect Adolf Loos designed several apartments in the building, some of which remain intact to this day. Loos is renowned worldwide as a pioneer of modern architecture. Among the prominent residents of the Stadthaus was Arthur Schnitzler. From 1893 to 1911, Schnitzler lived here with his mother, Louise. On April 15, 1945, the first post-war meeting of university professors took place in the building’s Egyptology Institute, discussing the reopening of the University of Vienna
