Description
Cozy country house on Ærø
A small, cozy house with a garden and fruit trees - 72 sqm lovingly furnished holiday house with a wood-burning stove. 20 m2 wooden terrace with garden furniture in a small well-tended garden with fruit trees. 2 bedrooms, equipped with 1 double bed and a single bed as well as a bunk bed with high-quality mattresses. 1 bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. 1 spacious fully equipped kitchen common room with dishwasher, stove, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, microwave and washing machine and dining table for 5 people. There is also a TV with an LCD screen, internet access and a hi-fi system. Holmegård is heated with an oil boiler. In the open living room, there is also a wood-burning stove, which with just a few pieces of firewood provides cozy warmth in a short time. Holmegård is furnished with an appealing mix of classic and modern furniture. Location and surroundings From Holmegård it is not far for a trip around Vitsø. Vitsø was originally an arm of the fjord with salt marshes at the edge, which had a direct connection to the sea. Over the decades, the area was dewatered by damming and dewatering with the Pump Mill and later with electric pumps. Due to the cultivation of the land, many of the rare meadow plants disappeared. In 2009, the drainage of the area was stopped, and Vitsø became a continuous nature area of 150 hectares with a new large lake surrounded by salt marshes and fresh meadows. Three bird islands have been built in the lake to protect breeding birds from predators, and Vitsø now serves as the last stop in Denmark for many migratory birds before the journey goes south. Greylag geese, ducks and waders breed here and you may also be lucky enough to see sea eagles circling over the lake. The three largest towns on the island: Ærøskøbing with cobbled streets and picturesque houses, Marstal with the maritime museum and Søby with Denmark's most beautiful golf course, bordering the sea on three sides, in the north of the island, are among many others worth a visit. Søby and the harbour, Vitsø with Vitsø Pump Mill and the beach are within walking distance.
